The flower or star motifs on Buna Karawang woven cloth from South Central Timor (TTS), East Nusa Tenggara, even though they do not have a specific, explicitly documented explanation, generally contain a deep philosophical meaning as is common with similar motifs in NTT weaving. Floral motifs are often associated with symbols of life, growth and fertility, while stars symbolize hope, light and good luck. Apart from reflecting the natural beauty and aesthetics expressed in woven works, these motifs also have spiritual and cosmological dimensions, which in some cultures are associated with the universe, gods and goddesses, as well as guides to direction and destiny. Thus, Buna Karawang weaving not only presents visual beauty, but also represents the cultural, spiritual values and life philosophy of the local community.
